Ductile Iron Fittings - Push-on Joints

Socket and Spigot Flexible Joints are assembled with synthetic EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) / SBR (Styrene-Butadiene-Rubber) rubber gaskets of special shape - the gasket has a hard ‘Heel’ and a soft ‘Bulb’.

In Push-on joints, the soft bulb of the rubber products is compressed when the spigot is inserted into the socket. The 'Heel' locks the position of the gasket and does not allow the gasket to get displaced when the spigot is pushed in. The joint becomes tighter with the increase in internal pressure of water. The rubber is confined in place and cannot blow out.

Permissible Deflection at Socket and Spigot Joints

Where it is necessary to deflect the pipeline from a straight line, either in the vertical or horizontal plane, to avoid obstructions etc., deflection at joint should not exceed the following:

DN (mm)Max Deviation Angle
80 - 150
200 - 300
350 - 600
200 - 300

Ductile Iron Fittings - Flanged Joints

Electrosteel manufactures Flanged Fittings using the “as cast” method. The PN ratings are PN 10, PN 16, PN 25 and PN 40. Flange fittings are also available with rotating adjustable flanges.

  • Buried installation of flanged fittings is not recommended.
  • Flanged joint being a rigid joint, perfect alignment of the flange faces during jointing and bolt tightening is vital.
  • Use of duck foot bend at the bottom of vertical flange pipeline is necessary.
  • For high pressure application, flanged pipeline may need thrust block / support at bends / tees.

Ductile Iron Fittings - Bolted Restrained Joints

Electrosteel manufactures Flanged Fittings using the “as cast” method. The PN ratings are PN 10, PN 16, PN 25 and PN 40. Flange fittings are also available with rotating adjustable flanges.

  • Can withstand very high pressure.
  • Needs specially manufactured fittings with a hood on the socket and Weld Bead on spigot.
  • Needs special accessories such as Gland, Split Retainer Ring and Nuts/ Hook Bolts.
  • Normal gasket to be used for sealing.
  • The Hook Bolts with the support from the socket hood holds the gland and the socket together. The welding bead on the other pipe's spigot cannot pass through Retainer Ring housed in the gland, ensures restraining of axial movement between the two components.
  • Easy to assemble and disassemble when required.

Ductile Iron Fittings - Boltless Restrained Joint (Electrolock Joint)

Electrosteel manufactures Flanged Fittings using the “as cast” method. The PN ratings are PN 10, PN 16, PN 25 and PN 40. Flange fittings are also available with rotating adjustable flanges.

Ductile Iron Fittings - Tooth Gasket Restrained Joints

Electrosteel manufactures Flanged Fittings using the “as cast” method. The PN ratings are PN 10, PN 16, PN 25 and PN 40. Flange fittings are also available with rotating adjustable flanges.

  • Can be used on any push-on joint socket and spigot fitting.
  • Needs specially manufactured steel teeth inserted gasket in place of a normal gasket.
  • Like any other fitting, the steel teeth allow the spigot to be pushed into the socket.
  • Once the spigot is fully inserted, the teeth bite into the spigot and restrict it from coming out.
  • This specially designed gasket performs the dual role of water sealing and restraining.
  • After assembly, it is recommended to pull back the fitting a little bit, to ensure engagement of teeth.

Ductile Iron Fittings - Express Mechanical Joint Fittings

Mechanical Joint fittings come with a flexible joint, where the sealing is obtained by applying pressure to the gasket by mechanical means, viz. a separate gland. The gland when bolted with the pipe exerts pressure on the sealing rubber products and makes the joint leak-proof. The pipe socket provides an exterior flange having bolt holes and an internal socket with annular recess for both the gasket and the mating plain end. Accessories consists of a gasket, a flower gland and tee head bolts with hexagonal nuts.

  • Offers excellent convenience during jointing. A tee or a connection can be easily inserted into an already laid line, which is difficult with normal push-on joints.
  • Requires very small space during jointing as no pushing is involved.
  • No chamfering of the jointing pipe is required.
  • In case the joint leaks, the bolts can be tightened further to stop leakage.
  • The joint does not need extra equipment to force the spigot into the socket. Only a rachet type spanner is needed to tighten the nuts on the holding bolt.
